Flexco Novitool® Aero® Splice Press

The Novitool® Aero® Splice Press from Flexco now features state-of-the-art technology and the exclusive Aero Recipe Management Tool for producing consistent, high-quality endless splices. The brand new Generation 3 press is easier than ever to operate, producing endless splices in a fraction of the time of water cooled presses.

The press has been updated with a larger effective heat zone, ability to control heating temperature for top and bottom separately, forced air cooling in both top and bottom, intuitive HMI controls, and USB connectivity with recipe management capabilities for increased splice quality.

Intuitive design and programming capabilities

The new Aero Recipe Management Tool makes endless splicing easier and more precise than ever on the Aero Press. Users can either manually enter or import recipes via USB flash drive. Recipes are stored in “groups” on the Aero Press by belt manufacturer, customer, and other categories for easy organisation. Users can recall saved recipes for specific belts, providing consistent, high-quality splice performance regardless of which technician is operating the press.

“The recent upgrades truly improve the performance of the Aero Press,” said Laurie Shorten, product manager at Flexco. “Users can expect higher quality splices with the Aero Press. Its speed, ease of use, and portability reduces downtime, whether in a belt fabrication shop or on the job site.”

Endless splices in as few as 8 minutes

The Aero Press still features a quick cycle time of as short as 8 minutes per splice, which translates to less downtime for the end-user, and more splices per hour in a belt fabrication workshop. Improved profitability can be a direct result of this high-speed efficiency. The splice zone, however, has been increased from 120 mm to 150 mm to accommodate longer finger lengths and provide additional length when setting up the fingers for splicing.

Improved heating and cooling

The press boasts better heat and pressure during the splicing process, which produces superior finished splices. The faster processing time makes heating and cooling more efficient. Users can set different temperatures for both top and bottom heating elements, allowing them to modify the splice parameters to achieve ideal splicing results for the belt.

The integrated cooling system features fans positioned throughout both the top and bottom press beams, allowing the belt to cool down quickly for increased splice quality and reduced cycle time.

“Our testing has found that the quicker you cool down the belt, the less the fabric shrinks and the stronger the splice,” said Shorten. “Having cooling vents on both the top and bottom of the press makes our cooling process that much faster and our splices that much stronger.”

Several available sizes and voltages

Available in widths of 625 mm, 925 mm, 1225 mm, 1535 mm, 1835 mm, and 2135 mm, the Aero can be used in most conveyor operations. The presses are offered in multiple voltage ranges, including the option of operating the 625, 925, and 1225 models with a 110V power source. The presses are designed to be compatible with multiple voltages. Simply select the press with the appropriate power cords for your application and the press will automatically accommodate the incoming voltage.

The Aero Press is ideal for use in the food processing and baking industries because of its integrated air cooling system. This cooling system requires no additional components, unlike water-cooled units, which run the risk of bacteria harboring in water containers.

The Aero Splice Press can be used in conjunction with other tools in the Novitool line, including the Pun M™ Mobile Finger Punch and the Ply 130™ Ply Separator. More information on the full line of endless splicing products can be found at www.flexco.com.au.
